More wonderful-weather play outdoors...

Sage got his first Jeep drive today. Amazingly, he did not flail himself out, an impressive feat for a just-now-8-month-old. Of course, I made Echo drive on slow and I held his hand for the all of 10 feet we went. Sage is sporting his brand spankin' new BabyLegs that Darren says are too girly looking but I lurve (esp. considering that it makes diaper changes a breeze without having to pull pants on and off, and the fact that he is learning to crawl on our nice hard, freezing cold tile floors - at least this makes the whole experience a little more comfy).

visit to sweet berry farm

Ok, so we took the LONG drive out to Sweet Berry Farm today. The weather was beautiful, albeit hotter than one would expect in late October! The kids had a blast. It was super-packed, and we threw down $50+ way faster than you would think possible, but I got some good pix :)
Echo and River painted pumpkins and took on the challenge of the cornfield maze (with Daddy help). River, breaking from tradition as the frog whisperer, managed to this time capture a new and different creation - a butterfly, with his bare hands. We all went on a hayride and chowed down on homemade strawberry ice cream and lemonade, right from the farm.

rock sale

Ok, so my first "official" post. A few minutes after I got this set up, Echo and River decided to set up a sidewalk rock sale, with playground rocks they painted yesterday afternoon. Shockingly, few wanted to pony up the 50 cents required to purchase a rock. (The 12-year-old neighbor girl actually was the only one to take mercy on them and hand over the cash).

Taking the plunge...

Ok, so I'm doing it. I'm creating a blog. Thankfully, Darren is at work, because if he were at home, he would veto it. Actually, he already has vetoed it a la previous sarcastic remarks about other people having blogs.... but I think (hope) he might relax when he sees it. I'd really been lamenting my lack of journaling, of keeping track of the kids' happenings and milestones. (Sage doesn't even have a baby book; you know the joke about 3rd kid baby books, anyway - just a scrap of hair and a piece of painted-white-corn substituting in for their first tooth - wait, I think that's a Married With Children joke). Anyways, the idea is that you, our friends and family, can keep up with what's going on in our life, and I can have an outlet for philosophical ramblings at 3AM. Also, I'll have a record I can look back on for times like when I wonder, "Hmmm, how old *was* River when he toilet-trained?" (I honestly can't remember). Oh, and I can plug my favorite websites and books and in doing so, force my granola agenda upon you :)
